Offer Description

The research project is developed within the field of Medical Oncology (SSD MEDS-09/A) and focuses on adrenal neoplasms, particularly adrenocortical carcinoma, pheochromocytomas, and paragangliomas, which are rare diseases of high clinical and biological relevance. The activity will be carried out at a national referral center with extensive clinical experience, providing an ideal environment for high-impact translational research.

The main objective is to understand and overcome mechanisms of resistance to systemic treatments, including targeted therapies and immunotherapies, through the identification of predictive biomarkers and the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

The project integrates biological and molecular research, clinical investigation, and outcome assessment, with particular attention to patients’ quality of life.

A distinctive feature of the project is the application of Artificial Intelligence tools, employed for advanced analysis of diagnostic and histopathological images, integration of multi-omic data, and development of predictive models of treatment response and toxicity. These approaches are aimed at personalized patient stratification and the advancement of precision medicine.

In parallel, the project includes an organizational and management component focused on optimizing the diagnostic, therapeutic, and care pathway (PDTA) dedicated to adrenal neoplasms. Within this framework, the researcher will contribute to the continuous updating of the PDTA, the integration of new scientific evidence and digital technologies, the monitoring of quality indicators, and the promotion of collaboration within national and international networks dedicated to rare endocrine tumors.

The expected scientific output includes publications in high-impact journals, participation in multicenter studies and competitive national and European projects, as well as dissemination and educational activities.

The project also aims to strengthen the role of the University as an international referral center in the field of rare endocrine neoplasms, fostering integration among research, clinical practice, and academic teaching.
