Accounting Manager – Amazon Leo

Amazon has an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager to support Amazon Leo, a long‑term initiative to design, launch and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites providing high‑speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. In this role you will be the subject‑matter expert on accounting policy and technical accounting matters, working closely with cross‑functional teams to design and integrate financial systems that support operational and financial reporting requirements.

You will review commercial contracts and assess accounting treatments in accordance with Amazon Accounting Policy and US GAAP. Success in this role requires deep understanding of complex, high‑growth organizations, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to make significant contributions while collaborating with diverse teams to solve unusually complex challenges in a fast‑paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of accounting and reporting, including conducting quarterly business updates with senior leadership.
• Perform review of non‑standard, complex contracts and determine accounting treatment; create templates to document conclusions and help operationalize accounting.
• Conduct research on accounting literature related to new business initiatives, complex contracts, and transactions (e.g., R&D ASC 730, manufacturing capitalization ASC 360, inventory ASC 330).
• Navigate ambiguity and drive consensus among cross‑functional stakeholders, communicate dependencies and manage/track expectations.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement Amazon Leo finance systems infrastructure and reporting needs to support business growth and drive scalable tools and mechanisms.
• Communicate project status to a broad audience, follow escalation channels, and ensure delivery as planned.
• Partner with financial operations and financial technology teams to ensure proper application of accounting policies, implement global controls, procedures, and integration with Amazon global financials.
• Empower the team to identify accounting issues by developing trainings to coach members on technical accounting assessments, contract reviews, and effective documentation.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or lawful admission as required by export control laws.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA.
• Knowledge of internal control framework (COSO), GAAP research tools, and the FASB codification.
• Experience in accounting management with Big Four accounting firms and Fortune 500 clients.
• Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions.

Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $95,400.00 – $163,200.00 annually, depending on location and experience, plus sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) as part of the total compensation package.
