Overview
Associate Professor in Statistics or Econometrics (Tenured) in the Faculty of Economics and Management, Free University of Bozen‑Bolzano (Bolzano, Italy). The position will be based at the Bolzano Campus, beginning January 2027. Responsibilities
At least 120 teaching hours per year (undergraduate, master, doctoral). Student supervision across all academic levels. Lead research initiatives in the Data Science and Mathematical Methods cluster. Develop and present high‑quality courses in statistical and econometric methods. Encourage interdisciplinary research with applications in business, finance, and economics. Qualifications
PhD in Statistics, Econometrics, or a closely related discipline. Strong background in mathematical or computational methods. Outstanding record of publications in high‑impact international journals. Experience or interest in applying methods to business, economic, or financial data. Proficiency in at least two of the official teaching languages (German, Italian, English) at native speaker or C1 level. Independent, internationally visible research profile with a focus on methodological, mathematical, and computational aspects of data analysis. Areas of Interest
High‑dimensional statistical inference Spatial‑temporal modelling Big‑data analytics Statistical learning and machine‑learning Computational and algorithmic statistics Optimization‑based methods Scalable or simulation‑based inference Requirements
Excellence in research at the international level. Evidence of high‑quality teaching and mentoring. Significant level of service to the department, university and profession. Evidence of ability to raise external funds for research. Language requirements as stated above. Application Procedure
