About the Role
Our Accounting and Claims team is looking for an Associate level hire who has some experience handling the reinsurance accounting operations for our Treaty business clients with a multi class approach. This would include working with our external Clients/Reinsurers and internally with our Broker Teams.
This is a full time, office-based role out of our Milan office.
What will you be doing?
- Performing various day-to-day operational duties, including, booking transactions, billing, collection, and cash allocation.
- Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly financial statements, payments, cash-flow.
- Support the Finance Manager in internal and external auditing requests to ensure effective controls are maintained and followed.
- Working alongside underwriters to review complex reinsurance transactions from an accounting perspective.
- Review Reinsurance technical accounts, including but not limited to, commission adjustments, profit commissions and premium adjustments.
- Review and record collections and payments corresponding to the Reinsurance technical accounts.
- Recording reinsurance payables and receivables in the general ledger (reinsurance payable and recoverable accounts)
- Review, reconcile and collect open balances from ceding companies
- Coordinating with the Operations Team to ensure all treaties are accounted for the month.
- Strong ability to multitask and work on different systems and accounts daily, to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- Ad hoc projects/duties related to this position.
- Monitor brokerage revenue forecast and update as needed
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Experience within an insurance company, reinsurance broker or reinsurance company is preferred
- Fluency in English Language
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Basic ability to read and understand reinsurance/insurance policies/contracts
- Strong communication skills
- Continuous improvement mindset

The base salary range and ultimate title is based on level of relevant experience and location and does not include other types of compensation such as discretionary bonus or benefits.
