Automation Engineer
DESCRIPTION:
Quattordio plant is undergoing a transition towards full Industry 4.0 standards on the factory floor. The aim is to make the factory as autonomous as possible in managing the new systems installed. This resource will follow engineering projects for new installations and will have a significant presence on the factory floor to improve existing systems and solve operational issues.
RESPONSABILITIES:
- Create, modify, program, and troubleshoot process control hardware and software, including PCs, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, intelligent devices, and programmable controllers.
- Implement, test, and start up control strategies for batch applications in coating industries.
- Develop high-quality, well-tested, and well-documented process control software and hardware to meet customer specifications, collaborating with Quattordio Engineering and Global Engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to develop maintenance strategies and manage end-of-life processes, performing prompt maintenance and software modifications to resolve issues or implement minor enhancements.
- Manage and monitor contract compliance with external service providers performing software modifications, including elaboration of technical specifications, validation of development plans, and ensuring adherence to PPG standards.
- Update drawings and configuration information of communication hardware (addresses, port settings, VLAN configurations) for timely diagnosis and replacement.
- Ensure systems have adequate controls and operational controls to guarantee reliable and secure information processing.
- Identify and stay updated on new trends in control systems that could benefit the organization, and suggest relevant training initiatives for staff.
- Interpret principles, theories, and concepts of process control engineering to solve problems and develop design specifications.
REQUIRED PROFILE (m/f):
- Good human relations skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and architectural design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in STEM disciplines (5 years of experience optional).
SKILLS:
The ideal candidate should possess the following technical skills:
- Deep knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, with experience in Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Ladder, Functional Blocks, Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Visual Basic, and iFix.
