For a Milan-based deeptech startup building the platform that makes robots as programmable as a website, I'm looking for an Autonomous Navigation Engineer .
What you'll do
→ Design and build from scratch the autonomous navigation modules for UAV and/or Underwater (UUV) systems
→ Work on state estimation, path planning, control systems, and perception integration on real hardware in the lab
→ Integrate autopilot stacks (PX4, ArduPilot or similar) into the proprietary architecture
→ Be the tech owner of the navigation module: real responsibility, from day one
→ Contribute to the open-source developer platform already used by hundreds of users worldwide
There is no autonomous navigation expert (flying or underwater) on the team yet. This is a genuine ownership role, not an execution role.
✅ What's your background
→ Solid C++ on real robotic systems
→ ROS / ROS2
→ Autonomous navigation: state estimation, path planning, control systems
→ Perception integrated in the navigation loop (object detection, visual odometry, or depth estimation on a moving platform)
→ At least one complete deploy cycle on a real mobile autonomous system: UAV, UUV, or mobile ground robot navigating autonomously outdoors
→ Builder mindset: you build from zero, you don't just tune what already exists
→ 3+ years of relevant experience
→ Python? Nice to have, not a blocker
⚡ Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or similar autopilot stacks? You're already ahead.

→ Automotive ADAS / autonomous driving on roads
→ Simulation-only experience without real hardware deploy
→ Humanoid robotics
What's on offer
RAL €60,000 – €80,000 based on seniority
Equity — 4-year vesting, 1-year cliff
