ICT Maugeri - Bioengineer (Machine Learning for Language Analysis)
ICT Maugeri, a leader in clinical research, invites applications for a temporary Bioengineer to support the project "After Diagnosis, What Can Be Done?" on Primary Progressive Aphasia.
Responsibilities
Review scientific literature on automatic language analysis in frontotemporal dementias.
Analyze behavioural, linguistic, and neuroimaging data of PPA patients.
Process quantitative data and biomedical signals such as brain MRI, patient speech, and neuropsychological/clinical measures.
Implement AI models for linguistic data analysis.
Participate in project meetings and collaborate with the research team.
Write manuscripts for scientific publications.
Qualifications
Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Bioengineering, Medical Systems Engineering, or equivalent (including foreign degrees).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is required.
English: B2 level; good Italian language skills for non‑Italian nationals.
Documented research experience in neurodegenerative diseases, evidenced by scientific publications.
Experience in quantitative data and biomedical signal analysis.
Experience developing and implementing machine‑learning models, especially for linguistic data.
At least one first/last or corresponding author publication in machine learning.
At least one first/last or corresponding author publication applying machine learning to linguistic data.
Terms & Location
Contract: 6‑month fellowship, starting September 2026, ending February 2027 (possible renewal upon project extension).
Place: IRCCS Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri, Bari.
