RINA is currently recruiting for a Building Senior Electrical Engineer to join its office in Genoa or Catania within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
The Senior Building Electrical Engineer will be an integral part of teams dedicated to Building Engineering and Building Physics. The primary responsibility will be to develop the design of electrical systems within Building MEP systems, including also competencies in the data center design. This engineer will work interacting with cross‑functional teams to enhance sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and improve energy efficiency within building ecosystem.
Key Accountabilities
- Design Development: Develop, design, and implement electrical and special systems within Building MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) frameworks, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best engineering practices. Coordinate subcontractors to ensure seamless execution of electrical system designs.
- Data Center Design: Contribute to the electrical design of data centers, including power distribution, UPS systems, grounding, lighting, and energy management solutions.
- Technology & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging technologies, smart building systems, and renewable energy integration to propose innovative solutions in design and operation.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and reports for all project stages, from concept to construction.
- Coordination & Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, structural, and architectural engineers) to ensure full integration of electrical systems within the overall building design.
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Apply innovative design approaches to reduce energy consumption, enhance system efficiency, and support sustainable and low‑carbon building initiatives.
- Building Performance Analysis: Support building physics assessments related to energy use, lighting quality, and indoor environmental conditions to improve overall building performance.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct design reviews and ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements and client expectations.
Education
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in building engineering.
- Strong capability in designing and developing electrical systems within MEP frameworks, including BMS, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low‑voltage systems.
- Proficiency in the design of critical electrical infrastructure for data centers, including UPS systems, generators, and redundancy configurations (TIER levels).
- Familiarity with international and local electrical codes, and building regulations relevant to electrical system design.
- Effective coordination of multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors; strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
