Freight Procurement Specialist
Department: Procurement
Reports To: Procurement Specialist
Job Type: Full-Time
The Procurement Specialist will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers and service providers across our global freight forwarding operations. This role requires a detail-oriented and results-driven professional with a deep understanding of procurement practices in the logistics and freight forwarding industry. Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers and subcontractors (e.g., carriers, customs brokers, warehousing providers).
Maintain strong supplier relationships and lead regular performance evaluations.
Source competitive and compliant quotations for freight and logistics services.
Negotiation & Contracting
Negotiate commercial terms, service level agreements (SLAs), and contracts to optimize cost, delivery, and quality.
Ensure compliance with global procurement policies and legal requirements.
Analyse spend data to identify savings opportunities and drive cost reduction initiatives.
Monitor market trends, fuel surcharges, and industry benchmarks to support pricing strategies.
Collaborate with operations, finance, and legal departments to align procurement activities with company goals.
Risk Management & Compliance
Assess supplier risk and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
Ensure adherence to trade compliance, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare procurement reports and dashboards for management review.
Provide insights on procurement performance, market conditions, and supplier KPIs.
Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in the freight forwarding or logistics industry .
Proven track record in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management .
Experience working in a multinational environment with complex supply chains.
Solid understanding of freight modes (air, sea, road), incoterms, and customs procedures.
Proficiency in procurement systems and ERP platforms.
Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis for spend tracking and decision-making. Strong understanding of logistics market dynamics and cost structures.
High level of analytical thinking , attention to detail, and commercial awareness.
