Job Summary
Responsible for the selection, purchase and delivery of merchandise, which adheres to the merchandise philosophy of quality, price, fashion and brand. Performing analysis to develop merchandise strategies and assortments.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the analysis and presentation of departmental sales and gross profit.
- Reviews weekly reports and ladder plans to identify sales trends, best sellers and potential markdowns.
- Performs on-going analysis to be used in developing merchandise strategies and assortments using available systems resources.
- Determines quantities to buy according to OTB guidelines at a department, class or item level targeting buys to support events, features and specific store profiles.
- Makes frequent trips to domestic and foreign markets maintaining market relationships and presence with new and existing vendors.
- Pursues the market for opportunistic purchases.
- Maintains knowledge of market conditions regarding price, resources and fashion reacting accordingly to impact sales and gross margin.
- Visits new stores and competition to study and critique merchandise, mix, price points and new labels.
- Understands and implements negotiating skills.
- Strategy and walkthrough
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal partners, in particular Merchandising.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Must have 6-10 years proven buying experience within a fast moving, retail environment.
- Able to demonstrate excellent negotiation skills of big contracts and strong commercial acumen.
- Fluent in English and Italian.
- Able to work at speed, making calculated, on the spot decisions.
- Frequent travel within country and abroad.
- Driving Licence
