Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will support purchasing activities for Motion Service, working in close connection with technical, service, and supply chain teams. You will contribute to ensuring materials and components are purchased in line with technical requirements, delivery schedules, cost targets, and ABB purchasing policies, working with both local and global suppliers.

The work model for the role is: This role is contributing to the Motion Service Division based in Vittuone (Milan).

  • Initiating Purchase Orders in the system based on approved purchase requisitions, ensuring full alignment with technical specifications, standard procedures, and ABB purchasing policies. You will confirm delivery dates with suppliers and actively monitor, track, and expedite orders, ensuring adherence to PO requirements.
  • Interpreting technical purchasing requests, including the ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, technical documentation, and product specifications.
  • Managing the end-to-end purchasing process, including order management and follow-up, coordination with logistics, expediting activities, handling of non-conformities and discrepancies, ensuring full order compliance with contractual terms, technical requirements, and ABB policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the management and negotiation of commercial conditions with assigned suppliers (prices, delivery terms, contractual conditions), working closely with internal stakeholders and the relevant category teams.
  • Recommending frame agreements to management by collecting and analyzing technical and commercial inputs, and supporting their execution after approval.
  • Analyzing and evaluating supplier quotations and bids, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and identifying the best overall value in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal functions (Engineering, Service, Quality, Logistics) and maintaining strong working relationships with local and global suppliers.
  • Supporting supplier scouting and sourcing activities, both in Italy and abroad, contributing to supplier qualification and continuous improvement of the supplier base.

Qualifications For The Role

  • 1–2 years of experience in Purchasing or in related functions (e.g., supply chain, logistics, technical service, engineering support).
  • Degree in Engineering (preferably in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic fields) or Economy.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills, applied to purchasing and order management activities.
  • Understanding of the procurement lifecycle, from technical request interpretation to delivery and closure.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholder and local/international suppliers.
  • Structured, precise, and solution-oriented working approach.
  • Fluency in Italian and English (written and spoken).
  • Availability for occasional business travel.
