Job Description

DXC Technology is looking for a Canonical OpenStack Cloud Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration and support of cloud‑based infrastructure using DXC best practices.
  • Reporting into the Italy Cloud & Platform organization.
  • Solving complex business issues.
  • Consulting, designing, testing, implementing, managing capability requirements, and integrating cloud solutions into varied environments.
  • Working in a team of architects, infrastructure engineers, and developers participating in the technical design, modelling, coding, testing and release of automated cloud solutions to production.

Qualification Requirements

  • Strong and solid background in GNU/Linux Operating System administration skills (5+ years).
  • Experience supporting a large/medium/small scale, elastic, highly available cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of the OpenStack project ecosystem and hands‑on OpenStack development/coding experience (OpenStack Canonical requested).
  • Solid and proven experience with orchestration engines and delivering IaaS and PaaS offerings within OpenStack.
  • 5+ years of experience with software development, especially in Linux environment with one or more of the following languages: Java, C++, Perl, Python, Bash, PowerShell.
  • Experience developing solutions with configuration/automation management tools such as Puppet, Ansible or Chef.
  • Experience with monitoring and usage collection tools such as Nagios, Zabbix and Ceilometer.
  • At least 2 years of experience with proven expertise in application containerization management with Docker.
  • Container orchestration with Docker Swarm or Kubernetes.
  • Architecting end‑to‑end CI/CD solutions using popular platforms like Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Strong experience in source‑code repositories like Git and SVN.
  • Understanding of Windows, Linux, networking, TCP‑IP, routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers and other infrastructure components.
  • Understanding of microservice architecture and REST‑based implementation of APIs.
  • Experience designing and using web‑services APIs (RESTful, SOAP).
  • Knowledge of big‑data processing, e.g., Apache Kafka, Storm, Hadoop, Spark.
  • Experience with virtualization & cloud platforms such as vCenter, Amazon AWS, MS Azure, Google Compute.
  • Experience with cloud orchestration/management platforms: VMware vRealize suite, HP CSA, Scalr, RedHat CloudForms.
  • Experience with emerging web GUI development platforms: AJAX, HTML5, JSON, jQuery, JavaScript.
  • Participation and contribution to open‑source projects.
  • Task automation and software distribution tools (e.g., HP Server Automation, SCCM, IBM Big‑Fix).
  • Reporting/Analytics (Business Objects, HP Autonomy, HP Vertica, HP Operations Analytics, Qlikview, Hadoop).

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • ITIL Foundations certification preferred.
  • Certified OpenStack Administration preferred.
  • Docker Certified Associate preferred.
  • Linux Foundation Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) preferred.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
