Job Title
Pharmacy Technician – Certified Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service in the pharmacy department. Assist customers by escorting them to requested products, securing out‑of‑reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing customer suggestions or requests to appropriate staff. Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to callers. Assist pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of prescription medications, including taking orders, gathering patient information, preparing and affixing labels, and assembling prescriptions for mail or dispensing. Submit insurance claims and file prescriptions after dispensing. Maintain accurate patient information and pharmacy supplies, log invoices, and order, check‑in, and stock supplies. Perform cash transactions and maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area. Report medication errors or other incidents to appropriate personnel. Adhere to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene, dress, and pharmacy regulations. Administer vaccines as allowed by law. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in other areas of the store as needed. Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Logical and scientific thinking to solve problems. Arithmetical and algebraic calculations, including geometric calculations. Write original correspondence and follow technical manuals. Interpersonal communication, counseling, and advising skills. Evaluate technical data. Education and Experience
High‑school diploma or equivalent. Certified as a licensed pharmacy technician through a national program and maintaining continuing education to keep the license active. Preferred: previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk. Vaccination certification as required by law, if applicable. Physical Requirements
Must be able to physically exert up to 50lb of force occasionally, 10lb frequently, and a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and repetitive motions. Visual requirements include depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Working Conditions
The position requires a fast work pace in a retail store setting, handling multiple tasks such as filling scripts, answering the telephone, and waiting on customers. Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals/solvents while compounding products and chemotherapy drugs. Salary
Hourly starting wage $16.00 to $20.00, depending on experience.
