Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Portfolio Company


On behalf of a leading Private Equity fund , we are seeking a hands-on, execution-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for one of its portfolio companies in Italy. The business is entering a critical phase of transformation , requiring a finance leader with a strong operational mindset and a proven ability to navigate restructuring, turnaround , and/or transaction-heavy environments .


Role Mission

As CFO, you will be a key member of the executive leadership team , responsible for driving financial performance , improving cash flow discipline , and supporting value creation initiatives in alignment with the private equity sponsor’s goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all core finance functions: controlling, planning, reporting, treasury, tax, and audit .
  • Act as finance partner to the CEO and the Board , providing strategic and operational insight.
  • Take ownership of cash management , liquidity planning , and working capital optimization .
  • Support and/or lead restructuring, turnaround, carve-out, or cost rationalization programs .
  • Prepare and lead financial aspects of M&A activity (due diligence, integration, etc.).
  • Establish reliable financial reporting tools and performance KPIs .
  • Build and professionalize the finance team and internal processes to PE-grade standards.
  • Maintain relationships with banks, advisors, legal and audit partners , ensuring covenant compliance and risk control.


Candidate Profile

  • Seasoned finance executive with at least 10–15 years of experience , including prior CFO or Finance Director roles.
  • Strong background in private equity-backed businesses – ideally as CFO in a portfolio company .
  • Strong experience in family run business and SMEs
  • Demonstrated experience in turnaround, restructuring, or special situations (mandatory).
  • Solid technical background in cash flow management , cost control , debt structuring , and financial operations .
  • Experience leading or supporting M&A transactions (both buy and sell side).
  • Hands-on, entrepreneurial approach – able to operate with limited resources and tight timelines .
  • Fluent in Italian and English .
  • CPA, MBA or equivalent preferred.
