Chef de Rang – The Gritti Palace

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Chef de Rang will be part of a team of high‑level professionals with a strong passion for F&B.

This full‑time contract role (40‑hour working week) is located in Venice, Italy.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and promptly attend to tables
  • Serve food and beverages to guests making recommendations if needed
  • Share your menu knowledge to assist guests with questions and special requests
  • Record transactions in the MICROS system correctly and timely
  • Check‑in with guests to assure satisfaction with each course and beverage
  • Clean tables, complete closing duties and re‑stock tableware and other supplies
  • Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, recook orders, and product availability, meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • Follow cycle time guidelines for all meals
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day
  • Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and brand identity guidelines at all time

Qualifications

  • Legal right to work in Italy; valid work permit for full‑time role (40 hours/week)
  • Fluent in English and Italian
  • Understanding of F&B operations and luxury hospitality
  • Positive outlook and outgoing personality
  • Great conversational skills and teamwork-oriented
  • Experience in the same role in fine dining restaurants would be an advantage
  • Ideally, knowledge of Micros

Physical Requirements

Ability to move and lift up to 25 lbs.; standing, sitting or walking for extended periods; professional appearance in a clean uniform required. Prior to employment, safety training and certification will be required.
