Privatal is currently mandated by a private equity fund in their search for a Group CFO for an international business headquartered in Italy.

The business is operating across multiple international sites with a strong market presence and an established buy-and-build track record. Backed by a well-known private equity investor, the company is entering its next phase of growth, with a focus on further international expansion, operational excellence, and strategic M&A.


The Group CFO will act as a key sparring partner to the CEO and shareholders, driving financial transparency, professionalisation, and performance across a complex multi-entity structure. A core part of the mandate will be to build a best-in-class finance function, lead transformation initiatives, and actively support ongoing and future acquisitions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transformation of the finance function into a state-of-the-art, data-driven organisation
  • Implement robust financial processes, systems, and KPIs to enhance transparency and decision-making
  • Take full ownership of liquidity management, debt structures, and covenant compliance within an LBO framework
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes across multiple international entities
  • Act as the primary financial interface to shareholders, lenders, and key external stakeholders
  • Support and execute M&A activities, including due diligence, onboarding, and post-merger integration
  • Identify and realise operational and financial synergies across the group
  • Build and lead high-performing finance and controlling teams across geographies
  • Play a key role in preparing the business for a future exit


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as CFO (or equivalent senior finance leader) within a private equity-backed environment
  • Strong track record in buy-and-build strategies, including integration and synergy realisation
  • Experience operating within leveraged buyout (LBO) structures and managing related xdwybme financial complexity
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale finance organisations, including systems, reporting, and BI capabilities
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally
  • Experience in transformation, digitalisation, and professionalisation of finance functions
  • Strong stakeholder management experience with investors, banks, and senior leadership teams
  • Background in industrial, manufacturing, or engineering environments is preferred
  • International experience, with the ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages (e.g. Italian or German) are a plus
