Chief Machinery and Packages Engineer | Take Project Ownership at Arkad
Are you a Senior Mechanical Engineering expert with a long-standing track record in managing complex machinery and package delivery for large-scale energy projects? At Arkad , we are expanding our permanent Head Office / Engineering Hub following the acquisition of major multi-year international contracts. We are looking for a Chief Machinery and Packages Engineer for a long-term, full-time position.
Note: This position focuses strictly on full technical execution and delivery responsibility for assigned project scopes, rather than hierarchical people management.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Project Delivery & Ownership: Ensure all activities related to the Machinery and Packages engineering discipline on assigned projects are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in full compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety/environment requirements.
- Technical Assurance: Lead the Technical Assurance process for the assigned project.
- Schedule & Cost Control: Prepare deliverables planning in line with the project schedule, monitor progress deviations, and set up clear recovery plans when necessary.
- Man-Hour Tracking: Plan and control discipline engineering man-hours against the schedule and budget, rigorously monitoring spent vs. earned hours.
- Deliverables Approval: Review and formally approve all discipline outputs, including technical specifications, mechanical data sheets, inspection data sheets, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations for equipment.
- Procurement & Subcontractor Supervisions: Oversee the overall Material Requisitions process for mechanical equipment (MR issue, technical bid evaluations, vendor follow-up, and review of vendor technical documentation). Coordinate engineering subcontractor activities and interface directly with suppliers to resolve technical issues.
- Client Interface: Act as the primary technical point of contact and key person for the Client regarding the Machinery and Packages scope.
- Optimization & Constraints: Analyze project constraints to solve engineering development issues promptly and propose design optimizations or changes to minimize quantities/costs or optimize schedules.
- Shop Inspections & Site Support: Attend main inspections and tests in vendor shops. Provide technical support to the Site Technical Office during erection and commissioning phases.
- Tender & Claims Support: Review tender documentation and prepare technical clarification requests during the bid phase. Support the Project Management Team in handling disputes or claims (evaluating new scopes of work, cost/time impacts, and risk evaluations) and assist the Construction Department with work requisitions.
Your Profile:
- Experience: 10-15 years of long-standing experience in Machinery and Packages Engineering within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Energy sectors. You must have proven engineering leadership experience on large EPC projects with a specific focus on rotating equipment, static equipment, and packages.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering .
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of main international codes, standards, and best engineering practices for rotating equipment, static equipment, and HVAC systems.
- Languages: Fluent written and spoken English .
- Location: Based at our Head Office / Engineering Hub.
