Nexta launches Aerion: a new biomethane platform
We are pleased to share that Nexta Capital Partners is currently working on the creation of Aerion , a new company focused on the development, construction and operation of biomethane plants.
This initiative is being developed in partnership with a leading financial investor, who will hold a majority stake, confirming both the strong attractiveness of the sector and the robustness of the underlying industrial strategy.
Aerion will play a central role across the entire value chain — from plant construction through to operational management — with the objective of building a scalable and sustainable industrial platform over the long term.
We are looking for CTO with experience in the energy/infrastructure sector , motivated to contribute to the growth of an ambitious platform in the energy transition space.
Aerion, the new biomethane platform backed by a leading financial partner, is looking for a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to lead the technical strategy and performance of its asset portfolio.
Location: Milan (with regular travel to plant sites)
Role Overview
The CTO will act as the technical authority of the platform, ensuring that all the biomethane assets are designed, built, and operated with reliable, efficient, and scalable solutions. The role will be key in maximizing uptime, methane recovery, energy optimization and biology process stability , while managing technical risks across the full asset lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and enforce technical standards across projects
- Lead engineering activities and oversee EPC/technology providers
- Support technology selection and CAPEX optimization
- OPEX evaluation during all the project phase
- Supervise commissioning and commercial production
- Drive operational performance and maintenance strategies
- Leverage data and digital tools (SCADA/IoT) for continuous improvement
- Resolve complex technical issues
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation, sustainability, and GSE feed-in tariff
Profile
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Energy, Industrial or similar)
- 10–15+ years’ experience in plant engineering, preferably in biomethane/biogas
- Strong expertise in technical design, process optimization and asset lifecycle management
- Comprehensive knowledge of biomethane-related field – Full Experience in the biomethane industry
- Hands‑on, analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills
- Fluency in English; French is considered a plus
