We are currently searching for a Communications and Marketing Specialist who will support our activities in Serco Italy and work on a full‑time position with a hybrid working style from Rome, Italy and under a fixed‑term contract.

Your Mission

  • You will join the Space sector marketing and communications team with the goal of strengthening its visibility, storytelling and positioning.
  • In your role, you will help shape how the sector will be seen internally and externally, ensuring that its achievements, innovations and people will be communicated in a clear, engaging and consistent way.

Sector Communications & Positioning

  • You will contribute to the development and rollout of communication plans for the Space sector, actively looking for stories that will highlight innovation, project milestones and the people behind the work.
  • You will turn technical information into clear and engaging content for institutional and commercial audiences, drafting articles, case studies, capability stories, social media posts, website content, presentations and internal briefings.
  • Through this work, you will help strengthen Serco’s positioning in the space domain while ensuring that all messaging will remain aligned with the company’s brand, strategic priorities and global standards.

Social Media & Digital Presence

  • You will support the growth of the Space sector’s digital presence, especially on LinkedIn, by creating engaging posts, visuals and short video content.
  • You will use simple editing tools such as Canva, CapCut or Adobe Express to produce dynamic material, and you will help maintain the space section of Serco’s website when needed.
  • You will proactively look for stories shared by employees that can be highlighted on the company’s channels, contribute to the social media content calendar and follow sector trends, competitor activity and online conversations to propose new ideas.
  • You will also track basic performance indicators and use insights to suggest improvements.

Events, Exhibitions & Administrative Coordination

  • You will support the preparation of space‑related events, conferences and exhibitions, helping to coordinate logistics, registrations, travel, materials, suppliers and administrative follow‑up.
  • You will assist with booth preparation, briefing packs and purchase order coordination with finance, making sure everything will be ready on time.
  • During events, you will capture photos, short videos and key moments so that content can be shared before, during and after the event, always ensuring that messaging and visuals will follow the Space, Europe and Global communications framework.

Content & Marketing Materials

  • You will help develop and maintain marketing materials such as brochures, slides, one‑pagers, infographics and sector updates.
  • Using Canva or similar tools, you will create clear and professional visuals, while coordinating with designers or agencies when more complex material is required.
  • You will also support communication campaigns linked to strategic priorities, including talent attraction, business development milestones and programme achievements.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Insight Gathering

  • You will work closely with colleagues across the Space sector, including sales, engineers and programme teams, building relationships that will help you identify stories and gather insights.
  • You will monitor competitor activity, industry announcements, ESA updates and new capabilities across the sector, using this information to suggest new storytelling ideas, content formats or event opportunities.
  • You will also collaborate with the wider Serco Europe communications network to ensure alignment, share best practices and keep communications consistent across the organisation.

What You Bring to the Mission

  • You have a solid academic background in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field, and you bring several years of experience working in communications, marketing, journalism or similar roles.
  • You write confidently in English and are able to produce clear, engaging content on your own.
  • You are comfortable creating social media content and simple visual or video material, and you may also have some experience supporting event organisation or administrative coordination.
  • You are curious about the Space sector and interested in learning more about it, and you are familiar with using AI tools to support communication, copywriting and marketing activities.
  • You have strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, combined with good organisational abilities that allow you to manage several tasks at the same time.
  • You are comfortable working with website content management systems such as WordPress, and you adapt easily to digital tools and modern content formats.
  • You pay close attention to detail and care about accuracy and quality in everything you produce.
  • You work with a proactive and collaborative mindset, and you feel comfortable interacting with colleagues from different teams, functions and cultural backgrounds.
  • You are familiar with tools such as Canva or similar design platforms, and you may also have basic video editing skills using tools like CapCut, Adobe Express or Canva video.
  • You understand the importance of institutional stakeholders such as ESA, EU institutions or national space agencies, and you show interest in following media activity, sector news and competitor developments to stay informed.
  • You help increase visibility through regular, high‑quality social media posts, and you provide reliable support to events and exhibitions, receiving positive feedback from stakeholders.
  • You collaborate smoothly with the Space and Europe communications teams, and over time you become known as a proactive communicator who brings ideas, suggests improvements and adds value to the team.
  • In your daily work you take ownership of your tasks and actively look for stories, improvements and new opportunities.
  • You stay curious and open to new formats, tools and trends.
  • You build trust with colleagues across functions and countries, adapt easily to a fast‑moving and technical environment, and always focus on clarity, accuracy and consistency in your communication.
