What you will do
Johnson Controls (JCI) seeks an experienced Italian qualified lawyer with an international corporate mindset as Contract Counsel, Italy . This position is based in Milan. In this challenging role, you will be part of the EMEALA Legal team and a key member of the leadership teams in Italy, acting as a trusted business partner to your clients. You will also actively participate in the JCI Law and Policy Department (LPD).
How you will do it
- Provide effective, proactive, and practical legal support to business clients in Italy at all organizational levels.
- Act as the primary contact for delivering timely and comprehensive legal advice across various legal fields, focusing on construction, installation, and digital legal topics.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts.
- Ensure contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
- Monitor the contract lifecycle to ensure adherence to organizational guidelines, including pre-bid reviews, negotiations, and execution.
- Support global strategic legal initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the LPD.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues within the LPD and other functions.
- Manage outside counsel relationships and regional legal budget.
What we look for
- Qualified lawyer in Italy with 5+ years of post-qualification experience in legal functions within a multinational environment, ideally in an industrial context.
- Legal generalist with understanding of the construction industry, a collaborative mindset, team spirit, and willingness to drive change within the LPD.
- Proficient in drafting various types of contracts in English and negotiating complex deals with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Ability to act as a trusted legal business partner with entrepreneurial acumen and a business mindset in a dynamic environment.
- Efficient in working to deadlines as part of a team.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Mother tongue Italian and fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Commercial background with contract and claims management skills, including dealing with customer claims and change orders.
