As the Career and Internship Program (CIP) Coordinator, you’ll be a part of a team that sources internship host companies; curates and manages relationships with old and new collaborators; and places student interns appropriately at local companies and organizations. After placement, the Coordinator serves as an intermediary to resolve issues that may arise, coaching both sides as necessary beyond these difficulties. Likewise, the CIP Coordinator will assist in finding companies interested in collaborating with our Business Consulting course.
The CIP Coordinator plays an important role in the success of the Career & Internship Program (CIP) locally and globally.
Please note this is a fixed-term maternity cover role. The position is expected to begin around 29 June 2026, and continue for approximately six months, though dates may vary based on business needs.
What You’ll Do:
Internship Placements
- Identify, source and cultivate a growing list of companies and organizations to host CEA CAPA students as interns.
- Work closely with Career Development and Internship Specialist(s) to be sure incoming interns are ready for their experience abroad and will be suitably placed.
- Pair students and companies appropriately, considering the opportunities that internship hosts can offer, as well as our students’ interests and professional goals.
- Formulate position descriptions for students once their placement has been secured, and fulfill all necessary paperwork internal to CEA CAPA to confirm the student’s placement.
- Assist colleagues to ensure local bureaucratic paperwork (convenzioni, progetti, CF attainment, registration with labor consultants) is completed correctly and in time for student internship placement start dates.
- Inform GIC professor of students’ placements and progetti to allow for comprehensive preparation for the Global Internship Course.
- Assist in the scheduling of mock interviews—a part of the Global Internship Course.
- Conduct regular check‑ins with interns onsite and hosts to intercept any issues that may arise and create any opportunities for coaching. (Interns check‑ins vs. host check‑ins should happen with different cadence.)
- Encourage students to work through difficulties in the workplace on their own, to reinforce learning experiences that will help them grow professionally.
- When necessary, mediate between student and host to ensure mutual understanding and positive outcomes.
CIP Development
- Seek and attend events, consider memberships, as well as other opportunities that may open doors to new and more internship host connections.
- Work closely with Director of Academic Affairs and CIP colleagues to identify, update, and make known Florence internship points of distinction.
- Attend and contribute to Global CIP calls to ensure Florence standards are in line with or exceed CEA CAPA’s CIP goals.
- Keep abreast of local CIP competition and when appropriate, suggest improvements for CEA CAPA processes, requirements or features.
Program Support
- Ensure that efforts to successfully perform above duties serve doubly to consistently elevate CEA CAPA’s reputation within the local community.
- Present a Re‑entry Workshop for CIP and non‑CIP semester students to teach them ways to present their experience abroad to potential employers.
- Assist Student Services staff to lead co‑curricular or extracurricular activities in Florence.
What Makes a Great Candidate:
- Laurea or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Communication, HR or a related field.
- Fluency in English and Italian; authorization to work in Italy.
- Knowledge of the city’s companies, business activities and opportunities.
- Demonstrated experience in forging and maintaining professional relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Organized, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.
- Enthusiastic about studying abroad and international education.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office and Salesforce).
Core Competencies
- International experience or interest in global business operations is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the challenges that this role can and does present, particularly with regard to timing, deadlines, and attention to PR.
- Attention to detail and particularly to the U.S. value of customer service.
- Demonstrate empathy and firmness in dealing with student issues.
- Ability to address both daily work and unanticipated situations. Exhibit flexibility when scheduling will require, and in facing unforeseen challenges during a workday.
- Skilled as both an independent worker and in working in a team; collaborative and able to work towards a common goal with a good sense of humor.
