Job Description

About the Role

Based in Italy, the primary role of the County Medical Lead, Medical Affairs (MA), is to educate and develop academic key opinion leaders (KOLs) with the most current study findings supporting the clinical value of Guardant Health’s products.

The Country Medical Lead will co-develop study and publication strategies with the MA Director South of Europe and the VP of MA International to generate clinical evidence for guideline inclusion and physician adoption, supporting private and public payer coverage. This role reports to the Medical Affairs Director South of Europe.

The role involves creating abstracts, publications, and physician educational materials for deployment at academic events, scientific sessions, advisory boards, and CME lectures, as well as training speakers and educators.

The individual will understand the clinical needs of oncology healthcare professionals and cancer patients, building a team focused on strategic partnerships with leading cancer centers and community oncology groups in Italy, supporting clinical utilization and trial capabilities.

They will translate research data, real-world evidence, and clinical utility data into publications and presentations at various meetings, healthcare events, and educational activities.

The role also supports strategic partnerships related to healthcare institutions, marketing, and market access; educates the sales team; and develops regional physician influencers to drive test coverage.

The Country Medical Lead drives strategic initiatives and collaborates with senior executives, constructing study and publication roadmaps aligned with corporate goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand cancer's complexity and identify unmet clinical needs in diagnostic and therapeutic pathways.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cancer center KOLs to promote adoption of diagnostic technologies.
  • Support healthcare partnerships involving evidence generation, pathway definition, molecular tumor boards, advisory boards, and registry support.
  • Lead clinical utility projects and investigator-initiated studies for market access, generating abstracts and publications.
  • Review and develop educational slides based on new research findings for approval by senior management.
  • Support speaker programs and clinician education in main solid tumors.
  • Prepare data reviews and educational events for KOLs, including deep dive sessions.
  • Synthesize and educate personnel on emerging research relevant to molecular testing.
  • Assist in planning scientific events and advisory boards.
  • Draft study protocols and publication plans, including co-authoring abstracts and papers.
  • Lead Medical Science Liaison and Clinical Oncology Specialist teams to develop KOL champions.
  • Lead investigator-initiated, multicenter studies to expand research and evidence base.
