Belmond is seeking a Cost Controller -Seasonal- for the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the legendary train that transports guests to the Golden Age on captivating journeys across Europe. About The Role

The Cost Controller is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency across various revenue, cost, and inventory operations. This role supports multiple departments by auditing income, analyzing costs, maintaining financial documentation, and assisting with IT and e-commerce operations.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Match bank transactions with sales from Manava system and cash reports
• Process and post Sales Journal accurately into the General Ledger
• Analyze offers, packages, and sold items; prepare related journal entries
• Regularly reconcile accounts including gratuities, receivables, credit cards, and bank balances
• Verify tips from electronic payments and register tip data in Workday
• Prepare monthly summary reports and calculate sales commissions
• Conduct beverage inventory checks using PAR STOCK and Manava POS data; maintain accurate inventory records in Workday
• Maintain pre- and post-trip documentation per company policies
• Support on-board teams with IT setup and troubleshooting during operations
• Manage mail order process, assist customers, coordinate with warehouse, and track shipments
• Handle on-board payment refunds with accuracy and customer focus
• Collaborate with departments to improve operational efficiency and enhance reporting tools and processes

Requirements

• 1 - 2 years relevant experience within a similar role
• Experience within the luxury hospitality industry - advantageous
• Relevant management or field/industry related diploma or degree
• Basics of accounting and financial management
• Knowledge to draft and control budgets
• Good administration skills and organisational skills
• Attitude for data collection, analysis and reporting
• Demonstrated ability to be innovative and creative
• Good communication skills in Italian and English - written and verbal. Any other language advantageous
• Time management skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Computer literacy skills
• Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
• A high level of professionalism and confidentiality/discretion
• Professional and pleasant disposition
• High level of integrity and trustworthiness
• Ability to use initiative and be proactive
