About the Role
We are working with a leading operator in the data centre sector who is seeking a Critical Operations Technician (COT) to join their operations team. This is a key role responsible for maintaining and managing mission-critical infrastructure to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient data centre operations.
You will play a vital part in protecting uptime and preventing service disruption by proactively monitoring, maintaining, and responding to issues across a range of electrical and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
· Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems in line with established procedures (SOPs, MOPs, SMPs)
· Monitor critical infrastructure via systems such as BMS, EPMS, and SCADA, responding quickly to alarms and incidents
· Perform routine inspections on loads, temperatures, pressures, and system performance to identify potential risks early
· Support and execute switching, isolation, and reinstatement activities in line with approved procedures
· Respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
· Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
· Maintain accurate operational logs and records using management systems (OMS)
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on procedures and operational practices
About You
· Proven experience in critical environment maintenance (data centres, hospitals, utilities, or similar)
· Strong technical knowledge in at least one discipline: electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration
· Familiarity with key systems such as UPS, generators, LV/MV distribution, and cooling infrastructure
· Understanding of redundancy and resilience principles in mission-critical environments
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
· Skilled in fault finding and troubleshooting complex systems
· A proactive team player with a strong safety mindset and customer focus
· Good level of English communication skills
· Willingness to work shift patterns covering 24/7 operations
