Cyber Security Analyst – Blue Team

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is a global shipping group based in Geneva with operations in 155 countries. MSC Technology Italy, a division of MSC, supports the group’s business through technology solutions, including a strong focus on cyber security in its Operations Center.

Role

  • Monitor, detect and respond to external and internal cyber-attacks using established processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and propose or design security controls to mitigate risks.
  • Install, secure, operate, and troubleshoot Security solutions.
  • Apply security governance, enforce security policies, and industrialise processes for Security operators.
  • Contribute to the design of IT solutions, infrastructure, or applications while enforcing security best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build security alerts, dashboards and reports to support threat management.
  • Build and operate security solutions, both technical and service based.
  • Run continuous tests on existing infrastructures and applications.
  • Conduct security audits.
  • Research new threats and develop appropriate detection and protective measures.
  • Develop anomaly detection patterns across a broad range of technologies and log sources.
  • Administer and support log platform and improve data sources for central log infrastructure.
  • Support management with execution of information security strategy and roadmap.
  • Stay current with emerging technology trends and tools.
  • Provide necessary tools for security incident responders.
  • Collaborate with IT experts and customers to ensure integration of solutions within MSC security policies.
  • Maintain proper documentation and training materials.
  • Provide timely, accurate responses to the Security Operations Center Manager questions and inquiries.
  • Complete ad‑hoc tasks and projects as required by the Company.
  • Incorporate good practices and quality processes in activities and projects.
  • Promote IT security best practices and policies among the business.

Qualifications & Experience

General:

  • Five years’ experience in an IT Security role.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • Team oriented with the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Strong prioritisation skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy, and decision‑making capabilities for fast‑paced incident handling.
  • Availability to work on shifts in the office.

Technical:

  • Experience with Security components (firewall, WAF, log management, NAC, IPS, IDS, HIDS, SIEM, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of networking and secure communications.
  • Knowledge of system/application vulnerabilities and exploitation.
  • Experience in cyber/operations security, network security and application security monitoring.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) and associated digital forensics and incident response techniques.
