Cyber Security Engineer (OT Security)

In this role you will lead OT cybersecurity across European projects within Hitachi Energy’s Grid & Power Quality Solutions & Service division. You will partner with Sales, Engineering and Global Cybersecurity teams to secure control systems and ensure compliance with IEC 62443, NERC-CIP, and other standards. You’ll perform risk assessments, support audits and certifications, and drive secure deployment of automation solutions. This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role focused on reducing cybersecurity risk while enabling energy transition initiatives.

• Act as cybersecurity lead for customer projects and ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy and customer security requirements
• Conduct cybersecurity assessments during tender and project initiation to identify risks and gaps
• Perform OT cybersecurity risk assessments and define mitigation strategies across project lifecycle
• Serve as primary cybersecurity interface for customers to align on security commitments
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Global Cybersecurity teams on cybersecurity strategies across Europe
• Drive supplier cybersecurity compliance and secure deployment of automation and control systems
• Maintain cybersecurity documentation, evidence, and assurance activities for audits and certifications
• Contribute to continuous improvement and IEC 62443 certification initiatives across the business

Responsabilità

• Bachelor’s degree in related engineering or computer science field
• Minimum 6 years IT/OT experience with at least 3 years in OT cybersecurity (or 5+ years as OT cybersecurity architect/implementer)
• Strong experience with industrial control systems and OT environments
• Advanced knowledge of OT networking, network security, firewalls, IDS, and secure architecture design
• Solid understanding of IEC 62443, NERC-CIP, BDEW, NIST
• Experience with vulnerability management tools like Nessus, CIS-CAT, Nmap
• Proven ability to communicate with customers and stakeholders across countries and cultures
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting cybersecurity culture within project teams
• Nice-to-have: ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist, GICSP, GIAC, or CEH certifications
