Data Center Manager, Data Center Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep customers continuously online.

Key job responsibilities

  • Managing and developing teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise and ensuring the highest levels of performance.
  • Maintaining existing co‑located and in‑house data centers.
  • Helping build and bring online new data centers.
  • Constantly improving all processes and procedures to enhance operational excellence.
  • Assisting and managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Liaising with internal teams and management groups.
  • Ensuring adherence to and exceeding local health and safety standards.
  • Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of data centers, using those metrics to drive positive change.
  • Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident, problem, change, and capacity management.

About The Role

As a Data Center Manager in ADSIPL, you will manage the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure in India, innovating solutions to complex problems and driving operational excellence across all areas of your role.

Day job at ADSIPL will include

  • Managing and developing teams of engineers with both technical and leadership expertise.
  • Maintaining existing co‑located and in‑house data centers.
  • Assisting and managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Liaising with internal teams and management groups.
  • Adhering to and exceeding local health and safety standards.
  • Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of data centers.
  • Implementing service methodologies including incident, problem, change, and capacity management.

People Management

  • Managed a team of at least 5 individuals for a period of at least 3 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve performance of existing teams and grow new teams.
  • Experience managing both high‑ and low‑performing employees, including conflict management.

Incident Management

  • Experience dealing with high severity situations and understanding the wider implications of outages.
  • Experience in change management and fault management.

Vendor Management

  • Experience managing relationships with external vendors, contractors, and security companies.
  • Demonstrated incident and conflict management with vendors.

Process Improvement

  • Ability to map processes, implement remediation steps, and improve overall business outcomes.
  • Experience with Kaizen, Lean, or Six Sigma preferred.

Health & Safety

  • Strong focus on health and safety, positively influencing safety culture within the data center organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of managing technical teams with significant personnel management experience.
  • Experience in major facilities incident management.
  • Experience leading process improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
  • 4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM field, or 6+ months of network and operating system support experience.
  • Experience in project management.
  • 1+ years of Agile methods and processes experience.
  • Experience in capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma concepts.
  • Experience implementing change management successfully and transitioning programs into large‑scale operations.
