Data Centre Facility Manager (Engineering Operations)AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.Key ResponsibilitiesSetting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world‑class safety cultureManaging key performance metrics for a significant number of large‑scale data centres distributed across multiple AWS‑owned and co‑location sites (hosted by 3rd‑party service providers) by continuously driving improvements while delivering performance against said metricsDelivering 100% uptime on all customer‑supporting infrastructureStrategic planning and execution of all corrective and preventative maintenance activities on all mission‑critical infrastructureManaging strong technical teams with responsibility for training and development of others to ensure operational excellence and career developmentSuccessful delivery of strategic projects on critical infrastructureSuccessful delivery of build‑out and retrofit of facility infrastructure in existing and new regional locationsManaging vendor performance by consistently setting high standards, driving accountability and conducting regular performance reviewsRisk management: adopt and plan corporate risk strategyCritical event response readiness (planning, escalation/incident management, customer‑impacting event management response and recovery)Experience in working and managing within a complex organizational matrix, managing and growing relationships between cross‑functional teamsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant Engineering discipline or demonstrable equivalent (lesser qualification plus equivalent work experience)5+ years’ experience in a high‑volume mission‑critical operational environment (e.g., data centre, healthcare, high‑technology manufacturing, large‑scale production, aviation maintenance) and preferably 7×24×365 operational experience and responsibilitiesFirst‑hand knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, employee relations, leadership techniques, operational performance, and coordination of people and resourcesA very good command of EnglishFull EU/IT driving licencePreferred Qualifications10 years of relevant industry experienceDemonstrated key electrical and mechanical competencies and theoryKnowledge and application of safe electrical practice according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodiesStrong working knowledge and experience of the purpose and infrastructure of a data centre, including in‑depth knowledge of UPS, backup generator systems, and generic mechanical‑room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units, and fan controlsFundamental knowledge of network design and layout (copper / fibre) as well as low / high voltage cabling, BMS systems, monitoring and alarming systemsEEO StatementAmazon is an equal‑opportunities employer.
