Data Engineer (Fixed-term contract)

Your responsibility:

As part of the Data Team, you design, implement and monitor our data pipelines and applications. You build the infrastructure to ingest, process and store IoT data streams, ensuring data quality and system’s reliability and scalability. You architect the data flows and choose the right tools and technologies for the different storage and processing services in the cloud. You design and build the machine learning infrastructure to train and run the forecast models developed in the team. You execute the migration of data to modern, robust, cost-effective and scalable systems. You are the bridge between the operation teams, the Data Scientists and DevOps. Therefore, it is important that you have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy keeping a clear and concise overview of all the different processes.

Please note: this position is temporary until 31.12.2025, with possibility to extend further.

Your profile:

• 3+ years of experience as a data engineer.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Expertise transforming data using Pandas and PySpark .
• Experience in building big data pipelines.
• In-depth knowledge of Apache Airflow and similar orchestration/ETL tools.
• Expertise in designing, populating and retrieving data with PostgreSQL databases and transforming data using frameworks like dbt .
• Experience with data streaming and data processing (Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Apache Flink).
• Familiar with containerisation and code deployment (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with compute, databases and data services in the cloud, preferably in AWS .
• English fluency is mandatory, additional languages a plus.
• Valid working permit for Italy or EU nationality

Bonus points for:

• Degree in computer science, statistics, data-science or similar experience.
• Background in Software engineering or OOP .
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in deploying machine learning models in production.
• Knowledge of MLFlow .
• Interest into Data Architecture.
• Knowledge of time series specific databases (e.g. Timescale ).
• Interest/experience in energy/sustainability sector.
