Role Overview
For the JRC Ispra site (Northern Italy), Amentum is seeking Decommissioning Engineers / Managers across multiple experience levels. These roles support JRC in the management of radioactive waste across the decommissioning programme, including waste characterisation, treatment, storage, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate decommissioning activities: develop and review dismantling strategies, define work sequences, technical approaches, and identify constraints, risks and interfaces.
- Provide technical input on dismantling and cutting techniques, waste generation forecasts, material flows, worksite arrangements, logistics and sequencing.
- Prepare and review technical documentation: decommissioning plans and studies, engineering assessments, technical notes, project and work package documentation.
- Coordinate interfaces across technical disciplines: waste management, radiation protection, licensing and regulatory compliance, engineering (nuclear and non‑nuclear).
- Support JRC in oversight of decommissioning activities by monitoring progress, identifying and managing technical risks, and providing guidance and recommendations.
- Contribute to project and programme reporting, including progress updates, technical inputs, dashboards and reports, and participation in technical and coordination meetings.
- Operate within a multi‑stakeholder environment, supporting coordination between JRC (client), JV partners, subcontractors and technical specialists.
Level and Experience Alignment
- Junior / early career: up to ~6 years of experience.
- Middle level: typically 6–12 years of experience.
- Senior level: typically 12–20 years of experience.
- Expert level: 20+ years of experience.
