Design HSE Senior Engineer - Projects Leader

MISSION : He is responsible of the activities pertaining to the Design HSE discipline within medium/small size projects, in compliance with the assigned budget and the project schedule, assuring the cost optimization. He coordinates a Team of engineers assigned to the project. He reports to the Project Engineering Manager for the peculiarities of the project and to the Design HSE Head of Department for the management of resources. In case of large LSTK projects, he can be assigned to a Design HSE Team that is coordinated by a Design HSE Manager.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
During the execution of a project, the duties of Design HSE Leader are :
• To implement the Project HSE Management System at the Design stage by preparing a tailored Project Design HSE Plan such as
Design of Fire & Gas system , including positioning and C&E diagrams; Hazardous area classification analysis and ATEX 2014/34/UE requirements verification; Design of Active and Passive fire protection systems, including technical bid evaluation and estimation for offers:
- Fireproofing extension,
- Monitors and hydrants quantity and positioning,
- Fixed water spray systems design and relevant facilities (NFPA standard),
- Low expansion foam systems design and relevant facilities,
- Firefighting P&ID,
- Hydraulic calculations (PIPENET) in accordance with NFPA requirements,
- Fire extinguishers quantity and positioning;
Design of Escape Ways ; Design, technical bid evaluation and estimation for offers of safety equipment as:
- Safety showers/eye washes,
- Safety signs,
- First aid kits, wind socks, breathing apparatus, etc.;
Noise analysis and mapping ; Partecipation and preparation of following studies:
- HAZOP/SIL assessment,
- LOPA,
- What-If Analysis,
- RAM Analysis,
- Consequence Analysis and QRA/FERA
• To manage the organization, the development, the performance and the follow-up of HSE Studies (such as HAZOP, SIL Classification, QRA, RAM , etc.) and any other HSE related activities at Design stage, as identified in the Project Design HSE Plan (such as HSE Design Reviews, PSSR’s, etc.);
• To prepare and discuss with the Project Team (Project Manager and Project Engineering Manager) and the Design HSE Head of Department the execution strategy of the project (including the project schedule) and assure its application throughout the entire project life;
• To cooperate and coordinate with the Project Engineering Manager and the other Discipline Leaders to ensure the fulfillment of and the compliance with the Project HSE requirements, and to create and maintain the project procedures, guidelines and standards;
• To assure the coordination of the design activities of the discipline regardless the location and distribution of the engineering centers guaranteeing the consistency of the documents with the contract, the respect of the time schedule, the implementation of the contract requirements and the quality of the deliverables under the guidance of the Project Engineering Manager and cooperating with the other Discipline Leaders;
• To interact with Client representatives and Vendors for all the technical topics impacting on the project both in time and costs;
• To guarantee assistance to the inspection, construction and commissioning departments upon request as per project needs.
As a member of the department, the duties of Design HSE Leader are :
• To provide feedback to the Design HSE Head of Department, concerning problems arising from application of standard work methodologies, to improve the effectiveness and the efficiency of the department;
• To conduct technical training as per department and Company needs and exchange experience with colleagues of the entire Maire Tecnimont Group for new Design techniques;
• To keep himself up-to-date about the technical specific improvement of the discipline.
