Overview:
Our client, a leading luxury hotel group, is managing a prestigious hotel property in Venice. During the summer transition period (June to September), they seek an experienced engineering professional to oversee operations until a permanent Director of Engineering (DoE) is appointed.
An engineering manager is already at the property with strong operational knowledge. This interim role involves supervising and supporting the Engineering Manager, ensuring smooth daily operations, and acting as the main liaison between hotel leadership and engineering. An Area Director of Engineering in Milan will provide remote support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational oversight of the engineering function across the hotel.
- Support the existing Engineering Manager and the seasonal engineering team (9–10 staff in summer).
- Coordinate with the General Manager and hotel leadership to meet brand and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot technical and operational issues, providing leadership during the transition.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, maintenance, and operational procedures.
- Maintain communication with the Area DoE in Milan.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in hotel engineering operations within 4–5 star or luxury properties.
- Ability to take ownership of technical operations with minimal onboarding.
- Strong people management skills to supervise and support the team.
- Fluent Italian for on-site communication; English for hotel leadership.
- Calm, solution-focused, adaptable to transitional environments.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Venice for the assignment duration.
- Contract from June to September 2025, with potential extension or evolution into a permanent role.
- Full-time onsite presence required.
- Accommodation and travel expenses reimbursed by the hotel.
- Day rate to be agreed, aligned with seniority and DOE level in Italy.
