Director of Global Engineering
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute global engineering strategy aligned with corporate goals
- Lead innovation and technology roadmaps
- Standardize engineering practices across regions
Operational Excellence
- Ensure efficient, high-quality, and compliant engineering operations
- Apply lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methods
- Optimize resources and capital investments
Team Development
- Build and mentor high‑performing teams
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration
- Drive succession planning and talent growth
Project & Program Management
- Lead global engineering projects and rollouts
- Ensure on‑time delivery, budget control, and risk management
- Collaborate with product development, R&D, and production
Technology & Innovation
- Implement emerging technologies (Industry 4.0, IoT, AI)
- Promote digital transformation and smart factory initiatives
- Integrate systems with IT and data teams
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure global regulatory compliance
- Promote safety and sustainability
- Lead audits and certifications (ISO, CE, etc.)
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams
- Act as liaison between global sites and corporate leadership
- Support customer engagements and technical sales
Qualifications
- University degree ideally in industrial / mechanical / process engineering or food technology
- Leadership experience: proven track record of leading large, cross‑functional engineering teams across geographies
- Technical expertise: deep understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, automation, and digital transformation
- Global mindset: experience working in multicultural environments and managing international teams
- Strategic thinking: ability to align engineering initiatives with global business goals
- Change management: skilled in driving innovation, continuous improvement, and transformation programs
- Stakeholder collaboration: strong communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Project and investment management: proven track record in managing projects and investments, with a keen sense for cost and performance
- Leadership style: pragmatic and enthusiastic personality with excellent organizational skills
- Language skills: fluent in English and either German or Italian, with a willingness to travel internationally
