Housekeeping Director owns the entire guest onboard experience related to cleanliness and stateroom service, ensuring a seamless delivery of premium, memorable service. The ideal candidate must possess outstanding hospitality, communication, and organizational skills, along with effective decision-making abilities. Paying close attention to detail, the Housekeeping Director is fully accountable for the quality of all guests’ experiences. This individual will take full ownership of the maintenance and cleanliness of assigned areas and lead their team.
HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five to seven years of housekeeping managerial experience in an upscale hotel, resort, or cruise line (shipboard experience preferred).
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or the international equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of cleaning procedures regarding public health standards.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, safety procedures, equipment use, personal protective equipment, and safety analysis related to chemicals, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy equipment, and garbage removal.
- Understanding of principles and processes for providing personalized services, including needs assessment, quality standards, delivery systems, and guest satisfaction evaluation.
- Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse team environment to meet established deadlines.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with department heads, coworkers, and crew members to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.
- Aptitude for managing the financial aspects of housekeeping, including cost control and expense reduction.
- Experience in managing headcount to support business needs.
- Knowledge of talent assessment, quality standards, guest satisfaction, team development, leadership, and coaching skills.
- Understanding of human resources policies and practices.
- Proficiency with computers and software such as Excel, Word, and company-specific programs (e.g., Issu Trax, OCIMS, Fidelio, LGA, Berthing Manager, Medallia, Kronos, Celebrity App).
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost containment, inventory management, and planning.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to speak English clearly and cordially with guests.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English to understand procedures and communicate effectively.
- Additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German are preferred.
