PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To oversee all aspects of the Procurement functions, while maintaining a high level of service to customers, measuring and monitoring vendor and staff performance and controlling overall operational costs. Consciously establishes a culture that encourages customer focus, individual development, efficiency, collaboration, and creates an environment for process improvements. Upholds and ensures that all Hapag-Lloyd policies and procedures are followed. Accountable for the departmental work atmosphere and employee engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Professional Management and Leadership of the Procurement Department.
• Responsible for the work climate of his/her team and for implementing improvement initiatives.
• Responsible for HR related matters in his/her team.
• Responsibility for purchasing services for the categories container terminals, feeder, truck, rail, barge, depots and port costs, in close cooperation with the Areas and Global Service Procurement.
• Development of regional procurement strategies and concepts.
• Preparing and conducting negotiations as well as contractual implementation and administration.
• Coordination of purchase activities with consortium partners.
• Participation in and leadership of projects as well as presentation of results.
• Elaboration of new transport concepts and preparation for the roll-out.
• Definition of costs and quality targets.
• Cost planning and development tracking in collaboration with Operations Dept. and the Regional Controlling.
• Identification of saving potentials and coordination of related measures together with the Areas and corporate departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
University Degree, Civil Engineer or similar.
Experience in Procurement and continuous improvement processes: at least 8y.
High analytical skills and systematic, efficient way of working
Responsible, open-minded personality
Excellent communication skills with a solution- and team-oriented approach
Very good knowledge of MS Office
Capability to fluently speak, read and write in English - any other additional languages are a plus.
Willingness to travel frequently.
