Job Summary

As the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for the safety and health of plant employees, as well as the community and environment. The EHS Manager will ensure the plant is in compliance with all Italian and local regulatory agencies and the EHS Colgate Palmolive Standard. Each day, you will make sure the team keeps developing capabilities and skills, supporting the business in the implementation of policies, practices and programs. You will also showcase your expertise by driving behavioral change and HSE learning within the organization.

Essential Job Functions

  • Officially act as RSPP for the Hill’s Desenzano site (plant, warehouse, offices, labs).
  • Act as the HSE focal point to site, project, and management, and coordinate with all frontline managers regarding HSE matters.
  • Carry out internal audits to verify proper implementation of standards and guidelines concerning EHS aspects.
  • Creating and enforcing occupational health and safety standards in accordance with local, state, and international regulations.
  • Developing and implementing Colgate Palmolive safety policies and procedures on manufacturing sites, including identifying risks and providing training to employees on how to handle hazardous materials or situations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of safety and environmental issues. Ensures compliance with all government and company standards and practices and leads the plant EHS programs.
  • Identifies, designs and implements EHS related projects and is responsible for ensuring corrective action is taken for all EHS issues.
  • Translate global and divisional EHS requirements into local processes and practices.
  • Ensuring that all safety equipment is in good working condition and available for use by all employees.
  • Conducting inspections to identify potential hazards and creating plans to eliminate them.
  • Developing emergency response plans for natural disasters, fire hazards, chemical spills, etc.
  • Maintaining records of accidents and injuries to track trends and improve safety measures.
  • Interface with RLS (Worker safety representatives) for information exchange, consultation, and improvement proposals.
  • Conducts EHS training.
  • Manages plant Emergency Preparedness Program and ensures plan integrity.
  • Manages all internal and external inspections and audits.
  • Promotes continuous improvement within all teams by transferring knowledge that has been acquired through formal and informal training to all Hill’s employees.
  • Accountable as the standard owner for EHS processes and programs by meeting or exceeding Colgate, Hill’s and regulatory established EHS standards.
  • Supports implementation of Quality Assurance and Food Safety initiatives.
  • Ensures personnel adhere to Hill’s policies, safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices, including Quality Assurance and Food Safety.
  • Manages Utilities Maintenance team and program ensuring sound plans and continuous improvement; the team might manage directly some specific CEB project in cooperation with the Project Engineering Manager. Utilities Budget management (electricity and natural gas) is part of the role.
  • Manages the Utilities Maintenance budget, planning and execution with his/her organization or through contracted service the relevant intervention.
  • Leads the Energy reduction Program and relevant improvement project implementation in strict collaboration with the Engineering team.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Engineering with a focus on Safety, Environmental Health.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with specialized training in Safety, Environmental Health, or Environmental Science.

Experience

  • +7 years of professional experience in EHS roles, with experience in utilities management.
  • Qualifications required by D.Lgs 81/08 (RSPP, CSP, CSE).
  • Experience in similar roles or roles related to Titolo IV D.Lgs 81/08.

Travel Required: up to 10% of time.

Work Location: On-site, Castiglione delle Stiviere, Lombardia, Italy.
