This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi-cultural environment.

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is recruiting for its EIB Global Directorate (GLO) - Corporate Finance and Global Activities Department (CFGA) - Project Finance Division (PF) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE. Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2026). Extension up to 6 months may be possible.

Responsibilities

  • Support the analysis of new Project Finance transactions, including the review of project documentation and financial information;
  • Contribute to the preparation of internal approval documents, such as concept notes and appraisal documents;
  • Assist in financial analysis and sensitivity testing of Project Finance models;
  • Support coordination with internal services, including legal, risk management, and environmental and social experts;
  • Participate in meetings with project sponsors, lenders and public counterparts, and prepare meeting summaries;
  • Carry out sectoral and country research relevant to the project pipeline.

Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or university degree in economics, finance, engineering or a related field;
  • Familiarity and strong interest in Project Finance, infrastructure and development finance;
  • Strong financial analysis skills;
  • Good analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information;
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of another EU language would be an advantage.
