Overview

This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.

Location: Luxembourg (headquarters).

Role: Trainee in Operations Directorate (OPS) - Corporates Department (CORP) - Adriatic Sea, Slovenia and Croatia Division (4-MA&SL HR).

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2026), with possible extension up to 6 months if required by University. Traineeship programme aims to attract applications from nationals of the Member States of the European Union. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship: The Trainee is expected to assist the division in the implementation of its operational tasks especially insofar the origination process and the financial analysis are concerned, as better depicted under the section Responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Update the existing origination databases and/or help in building new ones used to monitor and approach potential new counterparts;
• Draft client briefings, reports, presentations and contribute to external communication efforts;
• Contribute to the update of the counterparts' financial data and in the preparation of financial analysis;
• Provide support to the division in implementing other day‑to‑day tasks, including for instance simple compliance checks.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

• Final year of studies or university degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related field;
• Good level of drafting skills (with some creativity sparks), analytical (including knowledge of financial analysis) and synthesis skills are required;
• Proficiency in MS Office software, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Drive, Microsoft 365;
• Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU language will be an asset.
