We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical & Plumbing Technician to join our Maintenance team at Iniala Harbour House. In this role you will be responsible for carrying out both electrical and plumbing duties, ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and guest rooms are maintained to the highest operational and safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Electrical Duties:
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in lighting, power distribution, panels and control circuits.
Perform routine inspections to ensure electrical safety, performance and compliance with local regulations.
Support maintenance of HVAC systems, Building Management System (BMS) panels, freshwater pumps, heat pumps and other plant equipment.
Install, replace and upgrade electrical components and fixtures as required.
Safely isolate and restore electrical supply during maintenance or emergency interventions.
Plumbing Duties:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plumbing systems including water supply, drainage and sanitary installations.
Repair, replace and install plumbing fixtures such as faucets, valves, water heaters, pumps and pipelines.
Identify leaks, blockages and system faults, ensuring timely and effective remediation.
Monitor water pressure, filtration systems and circulation to ensure smooth operation.
General Responsibilities:
Respond efficiently to daily maintenance requests, work orders and emergency call‑outs.
Carry out routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house spaces, mechanical rooms and plant areas.
Participate in energy‑saving initiatives, including sustainability certification audits and propose improvements for efficiency.
Maintain clear and up‑to‑date records of completed tasks, materials used and outstanding works.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety and hotel operational standards at all times.
Collaborate closely with the Maintenance and Operations teams to minimise downtime and disruption.
Assist in contractor coordination during specialised repairs, servicing or equipment sourcing.
Provide professional and courteous assistance when interacting with guests or colleagues.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment, ensuring tools and materials are stored correctly.
Carry out other job‑related duties as assigned in support of hotel operations.
Qualification & Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical and plumbing maintenance, preferably within hospitality or commercial buildings.
In possession of a valid electrical license.
Minimum Secondary Level Education.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Fluency in English is a must.
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools and technical equipment.
Well‑presented, polite and guest‑oriented.
Reliable, responsible and proactive in identifying maintenance issues.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks in time‑sensitive situations.
Physically able to perform tasks involving lifting, climbing ladders or scaffoldings, and accessing confined spaces.
Required to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Participate in on‑call rotation or after‑hours interventions where required.
