The Company
This international engineering contractor delivers complex data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, power, and critical infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.
With a strong pipeline of major European projects secured, the company continues to expand its engineering team and is now seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of a large-scale data centre project in Milan.
The Role: Electrical Project Engineer
This role sits at the centre of project delivery, providing technical support and coordination throughout the full project lifecycle.
Working closely with Senior Engineers, Project Managers, Site Teams, Subcontractors, Consultants, and Equipment Vendors, you will ensure electrical systems are designed, coordinated, installed, tested, and handed over in line with project requirements.
This role is ideal for an Electrical Project Engineer who enjoys being actively involved in project delivery and wants exposure to complex data centre and mission‑critical projects.
Must Have Requirements
Must have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
Must have previous experience as an Electrical Project Engineer or similar role within the construction industry.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, technical coordination, and project delivery processes.
Experience managing technical submittals, RFIs, and engineering documentation.
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Experience
Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or large‑scale commercial project experience preferred.
Experience working with M&E contractors or engineering services contractors beneficial.
Knowledge of commissioning, testing, and handover activities.
Experience reviewing BIM models, technical drawings, and construction documentation.
Nice to Have
Experience with BIM platforms and Common Data Environments (CDE).
Knowledge of FATs, SATs, commissioning processes, and quality systems.
Exposure to project planning, procurement, and commercial management.
Experience mentoring Graduate Engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Senior and Lead Engineers with day‑to‑day engineering delivery.
Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.
Manage engineering trackers, design responsibility matrices, and equipment schedules.
Prepare project progress updates and technical reports.
Support implementation of project EHS requirements and ensure engineering activities align with site safety standards.
Prepare and review RFQs and support equipment procurement activities.
Evaluate supplier quotations and provide technical recommendations.
Manage technical submittals, RFIs, and engineering documentation throughout project delivery.
Review quality plans, inspection test plans, and commissioning documentation.
Support FATs, SATs, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
Review BIM models, technical drawings, schematics, and installation details.
Maintain redline drawings and as‑built information.
Identify technical risks and elevate issues where appropriate.
Support Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors with technical information relating to variations and value engineering opportunities.
Assist in mentoring Graduate Engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives.
