EMEA SOX Finance Director

THE SEARCH : Altus Partners has been retained by a market-leading Consumer business in Milan to find a proven Technical SOX Finance Leader with experience in an international large-cap environment, reporting directly to the Regional CFO.

This is a key strategic hire, involving close collaboration with local EMEA Accounting Leaders to roll out and implement key internal SOX processes, controls, and accounting policies.

The candidate will also work closely with stakeholders at the company's global HQ in the US.

The EMEA division of this global brand generates approximately €1bn in revenue with positive EBITDA. The role is based at the company's HQ in Central Milan.

THE ROLE : This opportunity offers a broad and strategic mandate, allowing full responsibility for implementing SOX and related accounting policies, in close partnership with Regional and Global Senior Leadership.

The role provides autonomy and a clear career progression within this market-leading organization.

You will be a visible on-site leader at the Milan HQ, with an expectation of working 2-3 days per week in the office.

Ideal candidates will be strong communicators with a collaborative, service-oriented approach.

Key responsibilities include: harmonizing accounting policies across the region in line with the Group Accounting Manual; ensuring adoption of accounting policies aligned with global standards; assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards; reviewing local vs. US GAAP differences and resolving them; leading the development of SOX controls, including segregation of duties; and implementing tools to document internal controls.

THE REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent). Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent). An audit background is preferred. Experience in implementing SOX and technical accounting policies is required.
