AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to the innovation customers rely on. The Amazon Energy Procurement Operations (EPO) team is looking for an Energy Operations Manager to join us. EPO manages energy supply contracts post-execution, provides controllership for financial and operational performance, and ensures our supply portfolio is compliant with external regulations, contract obligations, and internal policies. You will be part of the team responsible for managing the portfolio of the world’s largest corporate buyer of renewables.

We are seeking an individual with a track record for managing programs, including planning, launching, and executing initiatives that drive excellence. This role will support the management of our contracts in an assigned region, and will work with stakeholders across the org to report, analyze, and improve performance of our energy portfolio. The right candidate can manage multiple projects, has an analytical skill set, and experience managing contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Own the assigned portfolio of energy agreements and renewable power purchase agreements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on executed energy agreements in designated markets, and own the management of contractual obligations with counterparties.
  • Report and analyze performance in the assigned portfolio, identifying impacts to business units and customers.
  • Support the onboarding process for new contracts with a large number of counterparties. Track progress and drive for successful completion.
  • Participate in shaping and implementing EPO programs (contract management, financial performance, and energy compliance) with external and internal stakeholders to meet goals and success metrics.
  • Plan and drive execution of initiatives to improve energy operations and seek to invent and simplify to achieve scale in energy portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with other AWS and Amazon teams to support energy program management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) required.
  • 5 years of experience in utility/energy industry in North America, in asset/contract management, settlements, market operations, or similar role.
  • 3–7 years managing cross-functional projects, initiatives, and teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree (MBA/MS) preferred.
  • Experience in supplier management, contract management, or managing commercial relationships with vendors or customers.
  • Experience managing large datasets and building audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements in manual processes.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and tracking project timelines and milestones.
  • Experience developing or leading the development of automated tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
