ARTES 4.0 – Advanced Robotics and Enabling Digital Technologies & Systems 4.0 – is one of the Italian Competence Centers established under the Industry 4.0 initiative. Located in Pontedera, ARTES 4.0 brings together universities, research centers, and leading companies to promote innovation and technology transfer in the field of advanced robotics and digital technologies. Our mission is to support companies, especially SMEs, in adopting Industry 4.0 solutions through applied research, development, and high-level training.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for an Expert in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision , based in Pontedera (PI), Italy , at the ARTES 4.0 Competence Center.
The selected candidate will contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies by applying AI and ML methodologies in real-world industrial applications. Responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing advanced algorithms and models
- Conducting data analysis and interpretation for system optimization
- Developing and enhancing computer vision-based inspection and monitoring systems
- Collaborating with cross-functional R&D teams to integrate AI solutions into robotics, sensor fusion, and predictive maintenance frameworks
- Contributing to national and European research projects related to smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0
Qualifications
- Italian resident
- Strong academic background in Computer Science, Data Science , or related fields
- Proven expertise in Machine Learning , Artificial Intelligence , and Computer Vision
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB , and relevant AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV)
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience with industrial applications or vision systems is highly desirable
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D. ) in a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Italian is a plus)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
