Job Overview
The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel belonging to Marriott International, is recruiting a Chef de Rang. The role reports to the Restaurant Manager and is part of a high‑level team serving fine dining guests in Venice.
Schedule: full‑time contract, 40‑hour week. The position is located at The Gritti Palace, Campo Santa Maria del Giglio 2467, Venice, Italy.

Job Impact
Provide guests with an outstanding dining experience through warm greeting, flawless table settings, menu knowledge, and attentive service that leaves a lasting impression.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests promptly and attend to tables
- Serve food and beverages, offering recommendations
- Assist guests with menu queries, special requests, and dietary needs
- Record transactions accurately in the MICROS system
- Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each course and drink
- Clean tables, complete closing duties, and restock tableware and supplies
- Communicate menu questions, wait times, recount orders, and product availability to the kitchen
- Adhere to cycle time guidelines for all meals
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day
- Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of china, glass, and silver before use
- Follow standard operating procedures and brand identity guidelines at all times
Qualifications
- Legal right to work in Italy (valid work permit for full‑time role)
- Fluency in English and Italian
- Understanding of F&B operations and luxury hospitality
- Positive, outgoing personality and strong conversational skills
- Team‑oriented mindset
- Experience in a similar role in fine dining restaurants (advantage)
- Ideally, knowledge of Micros software
Physical and Safety Requirements
Ability to move and lift up to 25 lbs, stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, and maintain a professional appearance in a clean uniform. Safety training and certification will be required before employment.
