FGIV - Scientific Project Officer - AI Scientist

Overview

The successful candidate will join Unit Digital and Data Sovereignty , part of Digital Transformation, AI and Data Directorate . The Unit conducts research and provides strategic advice on all issues pertaining to the development of an independent digital framework in the EU, including data sovereignty, and independence of AI models, software and cloud infrastructures.

This role is within the Data and Artificial Intelligence Sovereignty (DAIS) team, which focuses on three key pillars: (i) a single market for data, (ii) sovereign artificial intelligence (AI), and (iii) sovereign information technology (IT).

The successful candidate will specialise in sovereign AI, conducting research to inform and shape European policy. The position includes practical, hands-on work, such as prototyping and evaluating agentic AI systems.
