The Field Reliability Engineer is a key technical reference for Connected Services within the tech center.
This role focuses on system-level understanding, debugging, and commissioning of onboard, offboard, and mobile-app related functions.
They act as the central contact point in the tech center to control and resolve major connectivity issues, such as plant blockages, captive fleet vehicles not starting, OTA campaign failures, or any other critical incident related to Connected Services.
The job combines deep technical analysis with hands-on interventions on vehicles and test means, supporting validation teams, engineering, regional launches, and plant operations.
The Main Job Responsibilities Will Be:
Technical Expertise & Analysis
- Investigate problems, support root-cause analysis, and provide technical input to engineering and validation teams.
- Perform system-level analysis of issues related to Connected Services.
- Support diagnostics and assist teams in understanding system behavior.
- Continuously track and stay informed about the technical and architectural developments across the entire end‑to‑end Connected Services solution.
Commissioning & Test Means
- Provide expert back-up support to commissioning teams in case of blocking or recurring issues on benches and vehicles, ensuring rapid recovery and durable fixes.
- Assist test teams in cases where they encounter configuration or commissioning problems, helping them correctly set up offboard systems, onboard platforms, and mobile applications for Connected Services use cases.
Vehicle & Field Activities
In case of blocker issues encountered by global teams and in situations where global teams need local support hands on vehicles,
- Debug fleet cars, press cars.
- Support major project vehicle deliveries in plants and technical centers.
- Oversee and support vehicle OTA update activities.
- Provide technical support during vehicle launches in the region, ensuring proper functionality of Connected Services.
Requirements:
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong interest in technology, vehicle architecture, and diagnostics.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn Connected Services systems and data flows on the job.
- Hands-on mindset, comfortable using vehicle data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g. DLT Viewer, CANAlyzer).
- Understandanding of in-vehicle network protocols (e,g, CAN), data communication standards (e.g. MQTT) and cloud platforms.
- Analytical, structured approach to fault isolation, root‑cause analysis, and issue reproduction.
- Ability to work independently in workshop, laboratory, and plant environments.
