Valmont Solar, a global leader in solar tracker technology, is looking for a Field Service Manager with experience in utility-scale environments and in the operational management of electromechanical systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of field service and O&M activities on installed systems, ensuring high standards of availability, reliability, and performance. The role includes direct coordination of field maintenance activities, management of subcontractors, technical support to customers, monitoring of operational performance, and supervision of commissioning and post-commissioning activities. The successful candidate will also oversee the technical management of warranty-related issues, failure analysis resulting from extreme weather events, and contribute to the development of innovative approaches to remote monitoring and digitalization of O&M activities. The position covers the entire operational lifecycle of installed systems, from construction and commissioning through operations, technical support, retrofit activities, and warranty management. Main Responsibilities Operations Management Plan and coordinate preventive, corrective, and extraordinary maintenance activities on installed systems. Ensure field interventions are executed in compliance with schedule, quality requirements, and HSE standards. Manage service planning activities across national and international territories. Ensure compliance with contractual SLAs and response times. Coordinate field activities across the entire installed base. Support spare parts planning and material management required for field activities. Ensure availability and proper management of critical components required for operational interventions. Technical Supervision Analyze failures, anomalies, and recurring technical issues. Support electromechanical troubleshooting and remote diagnostic activities. Coordinate Root Cause Analysis activities and implement corrective and preventive actions. Supervise commissioning, pre-commissioning, retrofit, and technical upgrade activities on installed systems. Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Quality departments to support product improvements and provide field feedback. Supervise Punch List management activities and resolution of technical non-conformities. Support technical verification activities during system start-up phases. Warranty & Technical Claims Management Manage technical issues under warranty and outside warranty coverage. Support technical claim management and definition of remediation plans. Assist in managing technical claims involving customers, subcontractors, and partners. Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Quality departments to analyze failure trends and implement mitigation actions. Support monitoring of costs associated with corrective actions and warranty activities. Failure Analysis & Critical Events Management Define corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies. Collaborate with customers, technical consultants, insurance companies, and stakeholders involved in technical investigations. Support data collection and analysis related to weather events and system performance. Performance Monitoring Monitor operational KPIs and performance indicators, including: System availability MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) Downtime Incident management Response time Additional responsibilities include: Analyze data from SCADA and monitoring systems. Prepare periodic technical reports for management and customers. Identify opportunities for operational optimization and O&M cost reduction. Support remote monitoring and predictive maintenance activities. Remote Monitoring & Digitalization Support implementation of remote monitoring systems. Contribute to the development of KPI dashboards and digital O&M tools. Analyze operational trends and diagnostic data to improve system reliability and availability. Promote data-driven approaches to optimize service activities. Support the evolution of the department toward digitalized and data-driven service models. Customer & Subcontractor Management Serve as the technical and operational point of contact for customers, EPCs, and asset managers. Coordinate subcontractors and service partners, ensuring quality and compliance. Manage technical escalations and operational critical issues. Participate in technical meetings and site visits. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and operational continuity. Support multi-country coordination activities and management of international suppliers. Safety & Compliance Ensure implementation of company HSE procedures. Verify compliance with safety regulations at construction sites and operational facilities. Support internal and external audits. Promote a strong safety culture and operational best practices. Requirements Experience At least 5 years of experience in O&M, Field Service, or Service Operations roles within utility-scale and distributed generation environments. Hands-on experience managing operational assets and field service activities. Experience coordinating technical teams and subcontractors. Previous experience with industrial electromechanical systems is preferred. Experience managing multi-site operations. Experience managing warranty issues and technical claims. Previous experience in commissioning activities and construction support is preferred. Experience managing complex technical events and Root Cause Analysis processes. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of: Electromechanical systems Electromechanical components Motors, actuators, and control systems Utility-scale installations Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings. Knowledge of SCADA systems and monitoring platforms. Strong technical troubleshooting capabilities. Understanding of O&M KPIs and service management principles. Familiarity with electrical standards and HSE requirements. Familiarity with RCA methodologies and management of complex technical issues. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and reporting tools. Education Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or equivalent. Languages Fluent Italian. Professional technical English. Soft Skills Strong operational mindset and problem-solving skills. Leadership and coordination capabilities. Ability to manage priorities and activities in dynamic environments. Ability to coordinate operations in multi-site and multi-country environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience in international utility-scale and distributed generation projects. Knowledge of CMMS platforms. PES/PAV/PEI certifications. Experience with commissioning and SAT activities. Familiarity with O&M contracts and SLAs. Experience with remote monitoring systems and predictive maintenance.
