We are looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our R&D team and contribute to design, develop and test firmware and libraries for microcontrollers/microprocessors used in Arduino or other embedded platforms (e.g. Zephyr, etc.). Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
- 2+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
What you’ll work on
- Design, develop, code, test and debug embedded firmware written in C and/or C++.
- Maintain and improve the Arduino codebase.
- Contribute to other open‑source projects like Zephyr RTOS.
- Prototype a product solution from research to production.
- Create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation for designs, code, and test procedures.
- Work effectively with cross‑functional teams including hardware, application software, Quality Assurance, and product management to define requirements, integrate components, and deliver high‑quality products.
- Represent Arduino at internal / external events and share our spirit with the developers community.
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field.
- Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ for embedded systems.
- Experience with JTAG/SWD and other debugging tools.
- Experience with hardware debugging.
- Extensive experience with hardware interfaces and protocols (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN, GPIO).
- Knowledge of IoT Protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, AMQP).
- Broad knowledge of git flows.
- Fluent in English both verbal and written is mandatory.
Bonus Points
- Knowledge of the Arduino ecosystem.
- Experience with Golang and/or Python.
