Overview
The Firmware Engineer, reporting to the Team Leader, will be responsible for the complete hardware and firmware design of digital electronics, including component selection, resource estimation, and design for programmable devices such as FPGA, SoC, CPLD and microcontroller. Responsibilities
Define technical specifications, hardware requirements and implementations for digital designs targeting FPGAs, SoCs, CPLDs and microcontrollers. Design, simulate, validate and debug high‑speed digital design targeting FPGA devices (VHDL code). Design custom IP for microcontrollers implemented in FPGAs (VHDL) and related drivers (C code). Develop firmware in C code targeting microcontroller devices. Write simple software applications in C/C++ for SoC design and test applications. Maintain and debug existing projects. Develop test hardware and procedures, both informal and formal, to confirm hardware operation. Collaborate with optical, hardware and software engineers to agree on system designs, interfaces and protocols. Qualifications
Degree in Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering. Knowledge of Hardware Description Languages for FPGA design, VHDL (preferable) or Verilog. Experience with Xilinx and Altera/Intel FPGA design suites (ISE, Vivado, Quartus). Knowledge of C/C++ for embedded microprocessors or microcontrollers. Good written and spoken English. Availability for sporadic national and international travel. Nice to have: knowledge of system modeling tools (Matlab/Simulink). Nice to have: experience in image processing algorithms. Nice to have: experience in software drivers for Windows or Linux OS. Contract & Benefits
