General Ledger Accountant (Temporary)

Temporary Contract Duration: 3–4 months

Wall Street English is looking for a detail-oriented and hands-on General Ledger (GL) Accountant to support the preparation of group entities for an upcoming ERP rollout, ensure alignment with Group Accounting Principles and Practices, and act as a key contributor to the Financial Data Integrity Enhancement Project.

This role will focus on reviewing, reconciling, organizing the entity’s general ledger while supporting consistent accounting process and high-quality financial reporting.

What You Will Be Doing

The ideal candidate brings experience in managing complex accounting topics and discrepancies, enchancing finance process, and supporting high-quality financial reporting.

GL Optimization

• Review the general ledger to enhance accuracy, completeness, and consistency of account balances
• Support the resolution of aged and open balances, including historical items
• Collaborate with internal teams to validate historical transactions and strengthen financial data integrity.

Reconciliations & Journal Entries

• Perform account reconciliations, ensure proper supporting documentation
• Prepare adjusting journal entries and maintain clear audit trails

Month End Reporting

• Support month-end and year-end closing activities
• Weekly Report progress, risks, KPIs and open issues to Group Finance management (Group CFO, Finance Directors)

Controls Improvement

• Set up and document standard reconciliation processes and accounting procedures
• Strengthen internal controls to improve accuracy and transparency

Audit Support

• Assist with audits and respond to auditor queries on historical balances

Your Profile

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling complex accounting challenges in a highly skilled international environment and contributing to the enhancement of financial processes, controls, and reporting quality.

• 3–7+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or financial reporting
• Understanding of accounting principles (IFRS or GAAP)
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• Ability to work independently and manage complex, unstructured tasks
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain issues clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Italian and English working proficiency

Nice to Have

• Experience with ERP systems (e.G., Microsoft, Oracle, or similar) is an advantage
